#20 Death Note (anime)

A super-smart high school student happens across a notebook with the power to kill anyone whose name is written inside. He begins to kill off criminals in order to make a new world without crime where he is revered as a god. Before long, an eccentric but genius detective, the best in the world, begins searching for the culprit behind these mysterious deaths.

Death Note was one of my first anime, definitely within my first 5 or so. The genius rivals and overall premise makes edge-of-your-seat suspense that is present throughout the vast majority of the show. It is difficult to decide who to root for because of the morally ambiguous nature of the Death Note. Decide for yourself who was acting in the name of justice in this timeless, 8.5/10 show.*

*I am not a huge fan of the last 1/4 of the show but it is still 100% worth watching all the way through to the end.
